The School Sessions that we hold are the biggest component to our program. We hold two classes a day in primary schools across Glasgow and instruct nearly 300 children a week.
The program covers the fundamental basics of marking kicking handballing and uses drills deigned to be fun while utilizing these basics. At the end of every session we try to finish with a skill focused game or an adapted Auskick game. Our main focus is for the kids to have fun in a safe environment.
The school session will help Australian Rules Football become better known in Scotland, as kids learn about the game so too will parents and teachers. We believe that in order for the sport to develop and become more successful, we must spark the interest of kids.
Glasgow council were a big help in assisting in setting up our schools program and are continuing to help us develop the program.
The Spring session with the schools have just been completed and the Autumn sessions will resume after the Summer break.
Scottish Auskick has been invited back to the schools to extend the current program and have had interest from new schools wanting to start their own Auskick program in their schools.
